Lunch at the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City last Saturday. Hunks of sunflower-flax baguette, spread with Bianca cheese and arugula, then chowed down in the park. Sungolds and green beans on the side. Apples and honey out of view. Great day. Great food. Great antidote to the restaurant that one reviewer (in all seriousness) described as “smart enough to serve the kids’-menu sandwiches on white bread.”

Sounds Lovely!
Mmmm, arugula. I picked up some fresh olive Bianca the other day, and spread it on slices of honey wheat & quinoa bread I baked. Fresh arugula would have made it so much better, but my little fall transplants wouldn’t survive a picking yet. That looks wonderful!
Do you have a recipe for that baguette or was it a purchase? Cuz that looks good.
Sorry, WordVixen, that was a market purchase. It was made by Hawthorne Valley Farm, which also made the Bianca cheese. It was good.
Sounds like it’s time to start experimenting, then. 😀 I just saw a recipe for pan fried (instead of baked) sunflower seed cakes with only 3 ingredients. I’m sure I can come up with something good!
That is a lunch fit for a Roman emperor. Who needs the fast-food companies and their processed goop?
